we just wrapped up a new logo for Jimmy Cheng Photography. playing with the initials J C and P was challenging but fun to explore. the final result: one stroke that formed all three initials.
after many techniques were used to capture the identity of Jimmy Cheng, the best match was the hand drawn brush stroke. i have gotten to know Jimmy and Sen’s work and a hospitable, fluid, and humble mark was in order. so, i got the old fashioned brush and india ink out and started making hundreds of strokes on paper. this is the one that felt just right. after scanning it and applying colors, the mark picked up a personality – their personality. Jimmy has a unique journalistic and candid style that praises the subjects in his photography. his work dances to the rhythm of his subjects and captures their story.
we’re really happy with the outcome of the logo and are excited to start implementing it into other materials, starting with the web site.
