on saturday, july 24th, we had the honor of hosting the launch party for Rick Tamashiro’s vision — VeryTotemo! — an art collaborative that brought out the biggest crowd PÄS has ever seen. and it wasn’t even a first friday art walk! it was a unique show with many aspects to the evening. from a process wall of sketched concepts to local artist designed t-shirts to internationally photographed imagery to a photo booth to the Tako Yaki fried octopus balls!
The Japanese word “totemo” means “very”. Put together, the thought of “very, very” is to describe something that you can feel but not fully describe by mere words. Every idea can evolve and would possibly be described differently by different people, depending on their experience. In a perfect execution, collaboration, creativity, and social justice mix beautifully to where, depending on which aspect your focus is on, you’d describe it differently. that’s VeryTotemo! enjoy the photos below:
