letterpressed Save The Date…
i love it when a client appreciates letterpress and when i get the chance to be a part of it. there is something beautiful about hand-printed materials, on the finest of fiber, and only a couple colors. i was asked by some friends, Kathy and Kong, to design a monogram for their wedding stationery and [...]

GRAMMY Museum John Lennon exhibit
the exhibit, John Lennon, Songwriter, is currently up at The GRAMMY Museum in association with Hard Rock International. John Lennon would have been 70-years-old on October 9. as i was brainstorming ideas for the exhibit a couple months ago, i couldn’t stop thinking about his round iconic glasses… after presenting a few logo comps, they [...]

EPIC TEN logo…
epic church in downtown fullerton will celebrate 10 years next june. as an effort to brand their milestone, we had the opportunity to create a logo which represents a fun, playful and nostalgic icon. what’s a birthday without cake? what’s a generation without Hostess cupcakes? collaborating with Alice Yi was awesome! the final product would [...]

GRAMMY Museum — Instruments of Art
this weekend marked the opening for a GRAMMY Museum exhibit at the Westfield Topanga mall called Instruments of Art, which is a showcase of 6 photographers featuring 33 never-before-displayed photographs of a selection of the Museum’s critically-acclaimed public programs, featuring performances by award-winning musicians. i had a lot of fun creating the identity, collateral, evite, [...]

GRAMMY Museum Travel Tours logo
The GRAMMY Museum is rolling out a very cool travel program starting with an even cooler package called Elvis At 21, just like the smithsonian and history channel’s traveling exhibit. the package is described like this: Join Executive Director Robert Santelli for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the musical legacy of Elvis Presley. This five-day, [...]

color prophecy…
before i chose the color to brand PÄS, i have to confess, i didn’t do any research and only went with personal preference and gut feeling. as a designer i suppose i should have checked out the personality traits for turquoise. but i didn’t. and what do you know, Pantone® names Turquoise the color of [...]

Jimmy Cheng Photography — bizcards
it’s nice to see the new logo for Jimmy Cheng Photography in print. but not just in print, it’s in an embossed, custom cut business card. we’re really happy with the logo (see previous post) so it was especially fun putting it into a printed piece using 3 pantones with natural overprinting. the next stage [...]

the world’s new PUSH/PULL pictogram.
after 15 months of review, the design for the world (DFTW) team has digested many different sketches, ideas and suggestions for the solution of the push/pull pictogram. i’d like to think i contributed a bit with my research and suggestions. even brainstorming abstract ideas helped expand the real solution. they grouped most submissions into families: [...]
